When Caralon's ruler promises his youngest daughter Laela in marriage to an old man, she runs away to the nearby village. Upon begging tavern owner Garon for protection, he demands something in return - that she agree to become his sex slave. Although frightened, Laela has lusted for handsome Garon before, so she's willing to sacrifice her body to him for safety. But Garon soon realizes he's playing a dangerous game, hiding the ruler's daughter, and that he'd be a fool to take her brideprice - her virginity. • Lacey titled the book Slave to Pleasure, but when her publisher already had another book under that title, it was retitled Carnal Sacrifice. Now, in its new edition, it has returned to the title Lacey always intended.

• Lacey got the idea for the Brides of Caralon series after her editor challenged her to write a futuristic story. As a result, she wrote four of them and thoroughly enjoyed the departure from her usual contemporary settings.
